Virtual Work's training contents are intended to supply useful basic knowledge for the efficient management of dispersed teams and projects.

The theoretical modules are divided into six modules, one of which is available for the general public at the eLearning Suite. The remaining five modules are included in the self-learning multimedia CD-ROM.

These modules teach how to:

  • Get familiar with the opportunities and limitations of eWork in terms of management and organisation.
  • Understand the keys to secure the most suitable managerial style.
  • Manage human resources defined in terms of distance work.
  • Identify the most suitable use of technologies.
  • Take into account the differences in distance communication.
  • Set up efficient methods for planning and coordinating the work of dispersed teams.

Individual and collective exercises

The practical contents of Virtual Work's training plan have been designed so that trainees may put the theoretical knowledge and contents to the test by themselves, with the support of trainers and other fellow trainees.

There are two types of exercises:

Individual

These exercises present realistic work situations. When doing the exercise, the trainee can have a constant access to the trainer's support and tutoring. The experiences and practical lessons can be shared with the rest of the participants.

Collective

These exercises are done by all the trainees and the trainer together, using the cooperative work tools at the eLearning Suite (either synchronously or asynchronously). The eLearning Suite is hosted on Virtual Work's Web site on http://www.evirtualwork.net, where the tools are only available for people participating in the training. These tools include chats, forums, digital newsgroups and distributed software: a shared calendar, a database for managing human resources and a task control panel.

Trainers' Guide

Virtual Work is designed as a training plan that can be adapted to the specificities of each group of trainees, according to the recommendations of the trainers. This is why trainers have access to a "Trainers' Guide" where they will find explanations and pedagogical suggestions.
